Thanks to the organisers's enthusiasm and despite our limited means, the first two editions of PROTOCLIP have received a genuine success in terms of audience. The festival was born in 2003 from the encounter of three audiovisual students: OphŽlie Beaurepaire (President of the Protoclip's association) GrŽgoire Saget and Laurianne Martini. The initial idea came from a simple observation: the video clip genre was poorly exposed in France and no festival on this topic existed at the time! 2005 has been characterized/ marked with the encounter of Jean-Fabrice Barnault (film producer) and of Pascal Forneri (director) whom decided to bring their support in the organisation of the festival's third edition.

We hope to make PROTOCLIP a real reference for its participants/ contestants; that is why there is an award ceremony each year where prizes are given. The video music are judged by a panel of professionals, and we hope to bring together this year some famous video music' directors and music personalities.

PROTOCLIP is born to expose each year the renewal of music videos all categories combined.

The music video has evolved a great deal in the past twenty years...

Abundantly broadcasted on specialised channels; the video clip unquestionably enjoys great success and high visibility.

The video clip does not only show the artist in its role of musician; it has become the medium where several art expressions meet: animation, fiction, art video, advertising, plastic art. This hybrid identity makes it a privileged field for innovation and originality. And this is precisely what PROTOCLIP wishes to bring to light/ highlight.

PROTOCLIP has a twofold purpose:  first to bring to light the artistic vision and creation of the video clip - disregarding the director's presumable fame - and also to discover and make public the work of emergent/ rising independent directors who work in parallel of professional institutions.

The festival PROTOCLIP is above all based on the encounter between the public, the video music' professionals and the new talents. It proposes screenings and meetings, as well as music concerts; thus trying to explore every aspect of a genre that is in complete mutation. The independent candidates meet the professionals; the public meets the artists and the festival-goers are also incited to participate. Ultimately, PROTOCLIP is the international forum of the independent music video.
